How to get rid of Farmville and other app status updates on FB

I was talking with a friend the other day and we were talking about Facebook.  She said she was so sick of seeing everyones updates on Farmville.  I asked, you don’t know how to block those app updates so you can just see actual people updates only?  She said no.  So I explained to her how to the top right of each status you can click the X and it gives you the option to hide the person, the app or just that entry.  If you click hide the app, you will no longer see ANY updates from that particular app.  It is quite a nice feature, I thought everyone knew this, but apparently not, so I figured I would pass it along here.
